Conservative MP Boris Johnson has announced plans to throw his hat into the ring for the chance to become captain of the RMS Titanic, according to his spokesman.
Asked if he would be a candidate, the former foreign secretary replied: “Of course I’m going to go for it.”
“The Titanic is the premiere ship of its class in the world and anyone would be a fool not to want to be at the wheel as we heat it into a prosperous future.
“Of course there have been well documented issues with the passenger liner, but I feel with the right leadership it can reach its final destination.”
Other possible contenders include Michael Gove, Amber Rudd, Sajid Javid, Dominic Raab.
“I have shat myself,” Mr Raab said.
“I think my record speaks for itself and I look forward to the healthy competition for the chance to be at the helm when this fantastic ship docks at the sunlit uplands of our brighter future.”
