As PayPal donations to The Brexit Party begin to come under scrutiny, leader Nigel Farage has been caught accepting a donation of one banana milkshake, it has emerged.
Footage of Farage publicly wearing the £1.59 McDonald’s shake circulated online today, prompting him to defend the donation.
“This is simply another grassroots donation below £500 that does not need to be declared to the electoral commission,” Farage said.
“The milkshake was paid for in pounds sterling and kindly donated to me by one of our many passionate members – everything is above board here.”
Although there is no legal requirement to declare details donors of under £500, the man in question was happy to speak to us.
“I’m delighted to have done my bit for British democracy,” he said.
“Merely hitting the toad-faced ball bag from such a distance is something I am very proud of and well worth the £1.59.”
