Boris Johnson to appear in court to face unprecedented free publicity

Tory leadership hopeful Boris Johnson will be summonsed to court so he can receive an enormous amount of free publicity, according to reports.

Johnson faces accusations of misconduct in public office for comments made in the run-up to the EU referendum, District Judge Margot Coleman ruled and should now face the punishment of a massive media spotlight being shone directly on him.

“I can’t think of a better way to get public support than playing the victim card before inevitably facing no punishment whatsoever,” he said.

“All I have to do is frame it as an establishment plot to defeat a no-deal Brexit and all the frothing Leavers will gobble it up and get right behind me.

“The press will focus solely on me for weeks, which is the level of attention that I constantly crave.

“Anyone who thinks I will be found guilty is probably even more deluded than my core supporters.”

The news will come as a blow to other Conservative leadership candidates, with Dominic Raab’s chances almost certainly dashed.

“I appear to have shat myself again,” Mr Raab said.
